Advantages of Plywood Pallet

Plywood Wooden Pallet

Strength and Durability: Plywood pallets are known for their strength and durability. The multiple layers of plywood, along with the structural support provided by stringers or blocks, result in a robust platform capable of withstanding heavy loads and rough handling.

Consistency: Unlike pallets made from natural wood, plywood pallets offer consistency in terms of size, shape, and quality. This uniformity ensures compatibility with automated handling systems and helps maintain stability during transportation and storage.

Lightweight: Plywood pallets are typically lighter in weight compared to pallets made from solid wood. This lightweight construction facilitates easier handling, reduces transportation costs, and may contribute to lower fuel consumption during shipment.

Resistance to Moisture and Decay: Plywood is manufactured using layers of wood veneers bonded together with adhesives, which often include water-resistant properties.

Customization: Plywood pallets can be easily customized to meet specific size, load capacity, and handling requirements.

Recyclability and Sustainability: Plywood pallets can be recycled or reused, contributing to sustainability efforts in the supply chain. Additionally, plywood is often sourced from sustainably managed forests, further enhancing the eco-friendly credentials of plywood pallets.

Application of Plywood Pallet

Manufacturing Industry
In manufacturing facilities, plywood pallets transport raw materials, components, and finished products between production lines and storage areas. Their durability withstands heavy industrial use, including exposure to oils, vibrations, and repetitive handling.

Transportation
During transit—whether by truck, rail, or sea—plywood pallets provide a stable foundation that minimizes cargo movement. This stability reduces the risk of shifting, tipping, or impact damage, especially during sudden stops or rough handling.

Loading Docks
At loading docks, plywood pallets streamline the transfer of goods between storage and transport vehicles. Their compatibility with forklifts ensures quick and safe loading/unloading, reducing turnaround times and labor costs.

Agricultural Sector
Farmers and agribusinesses rely on plywood pallets to transport produce, fertilizers, animal feed, and equipment. Their resistance to moisture and ability to handle heavy, bulky loads make them ideal for rural and outdoor environments.

Retail and Distribution
In retail supply chains, plywood pallets ensure efficient movement of boxed goods from distribution centers to stores. Their uniform size aligns with global shipping standards (e.g., ISO, EUR), simplifying logistics and inventory management.

Packaging and Shipping
Plywood pallets serve as a foundational platform for secure packaging and long-distance shipping. They are often used beneath crates, barrels, or oversized containers to provide stability and shock absorption during transit.

Plywood Pallet Production Process

Step 1: The process begins with cutting logs from natural tree trunks using specialized equipment. The logs are then peeled into thin layers to prepare for the wood gluing process.

Step 2: Typically, these wood layers are cut into standard sizes; to ensure the wood's elasticity and toughness, specialized industrial machinery is used to inspect them.

Step 3: Next, the wood is dried using modern drying technology. The moisture content of the wood layers is usually maintained at about 7% or ranges from 6% to 8%, this ensures wood quality and prevents deformation after the product is completed.

Step 4: After drying, the wood layers are sprayed with glue and pre-pressed by machine, creating the original wooden plywood panels.

Step 5

Here, the pre-pressed wood will continue to be pressed at standard temperature and pressure, ensuring maximum adhesion and durability of the product.

Step 6

After the wood has been pressed and formed into panels, they are cut into rectangular panels and then treated to a smooth and uniform surface.

Step 7

Finally, the plywood pallet will be sprayed with glue and glued to the surface, then continue the process of pre-pressing and heat pressing with pressure increased 4 times before being finally cut, forming plywood panels that we often see in interior projects.

Essential Maintenance Practices for Plywood Pallets

Regular Inspection: Conduct routine checks for signs of physical damage such as cracks, delamination, broken corner posts, or warped decks.

Cleaning Protocol: Avoid soaking or high-pressure washing, as excessive moisture can compromise adhesive bonds between layers. Never use harsh chemicals, solvents, or bleach, which can degrade the wood and bonding agents.

Proper Storage: Store plywood pallets in a dry, well-ventilated area, ideally indoors. Avoid prolonged exposure to rain, snow, or direct sunlight, which can lead to swelling, rot, or UV degradation.

Repair Guidelines: Minor damages can sometimes be repaired using waterproof wood adhesives and reinforcement plates. However, severely damaged pallets should be replaced to maintain safety and performance standards.

Hardware Considerations: If using fasteners like screws or brackets for attachments, always choose rustproof materials such as stainless steel or coated hardware.

FAQ

Q: Can plywood pallets be used externally?

A: Yes, plywood pallets can be used outdoors, but their suitability depends on proper treatment and environmental conditions. For optimal performance in external applications, choose plywood pallets certified for outdoor use (such as those made with exterior-grade glue and marine plywood) and inspect them regularly for signs of wear or moisture damage.

Q: What constitutes the major difference between a plywood pallet and wooden pallet?

A: A major difference between plywood and wooden pallet lies in the type of material used. Plywood pallets are made using engineered wood sheets, giving them a uniform structure and lightweight. On the other hand, wooden pallets are produced from solid timber, having more strength and load-carrying capacity.

Q: Which pallet is best for export-plywood or wooden?

A: Plywood pallets are better for export as they are normally exempt from the ISPM-15 regulations unlike wooden pallets which are treated by heat or fumigation for international shipment.

Q: How strong are plywood pallets compared to solid wood pallets?

A: Plywood pallets can offer comparable or even superior load-bearing performance due to their engineered structure. They distribute weight more evenly and are less prone to splitting or failure under stress.

Q: Do plywood pallets require special handling?

A: No special handling is required, but standard pallet handling practices—such as proper forklift use and avoiding overloading—should always be followed.

As one of the leading plywood pallet manufacturers and suppliers in China, we offer a wide range of products with superior quality. Please feel free to buy high-grade plywood pallet for sale here from our factory. Customized orders are welcome.
